Private House
Dobcross, Saddleworth
Project overview
The proposal involved the extension, renovation and restoration of an existing Grade II listed farmhouse in Dobcross, Saddleworth. The property required the re-ordering of spaces to make existing spaces more useable. HNA’s design was to reorganise the main living spaces to provide a more efficient layout, and to introduce a modern glass extension which would not detract from the Grade II listed building whilst making best use of the phenomenal views from the main garden space.
HNA worked with the local authority Conservation officer to reach agreement on the approach of introducing a modern element into the refurbishment works and provided detailed proposals at pre-app stage for assessment and approval. The proposals also provided opportunity to make several corrections to poor quality historic building changes. HNA’s proposals included landscape design elements to help the building work with the site, to allow for better interaction between internal and external spaces, and to improve the overall appearance of the building in the wider setting.
